• The idea
The concept behind LFS Pro Series was created during the summer of 2008 and after some discussion between the founding members (Sracer & PaulC2K). The decision was to start a series which use classes which have a broad appeal, provided a challenge to the driver, and can be used to create great racing. The series will focus mainly on the GTR class, this is due to the fact that it is one of the most challenging cars and is widely accepted to be the main race class within LFS.
• Test Season
The first official season will start in Feb 2009 after a short test season held with a selection of invite-only teams, teams which were well established and respected as the wealth of knowledge and experience in similarly organised events would be invaluable in ensuring the series is just right for its intended audience. Our target is to attract the very best drivers within LFS and generate an atmosphere where people take their racing seriously and enjoy the challenge of racing amongst like-minded drivers on tracks which are challenging but allow drivers plenty of chances to overtake and drive side by side in the knowledge the people they're racing will be firm but fair.
At the end of the first season, an assessment of how things went, what people liked and disliked along with suggestions for improvement were taken which helped mould the series into what it is today.
• Taking on
key tasks
One of the biggest downfalls of many leagues is the lack of communication with its racers and the slow fizzle out of drivers after the initial impact of the series wears away. This has been one of the biggest challenges, and we feel with LFS Pro Series we have implemented custom-built solutions which will heavily reduce these issues with the introduction of a fully automated Booking in system. The booking in system gives the drivers who are taking part the chance to confirm they will be taking racing in the upcoming round in the series, before the round approaches any unclaimed grid slots are made available to drivers on a reserves list. This should help ensure that we are given warning of people being unable to attend, and then once we know there are places available we can inform the very people who were unfortunately unable to take part in the initial 32 driver line-up, and those empty spots can be filled in time for the race.
To complement the booking in system, we also have a fully automated communications system which informs the competing drivers
when booking in is open (also providing the majority of the info about the round), a 24hr reminder of booking in closing, and then to contact the drivers who are on the waiting list so they can apply for one of the spaces.
By creating these 2 sections of the site, it enables our team of organisers to focus on other aspects while the system ensures that our entrants arent forgotten, no matter what other events are going on around us. In combination with the rest of the site, we feel we have created the most comprehensive structure within which to hold a race series far beyond anything currently offered in the LFS community, and we will continue improving upon it, and aim to implement any feature suggested to us which would greatly improve both our racers and visitors experience.
